Abstract:Currently, the global clay lithium resource is still in the development stage, and conducting process mineralogy research can provide mineralogical basis and support for formulating the extraction process of clay lithium ore. In this paper, the mineralogical properties of clay type lithium minerals in Liuzhi area, Guizhou, have been comprehensively studied by means of scanning electron microscopy, MLA mineral automatic analyzer, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The results show that the Li2O content of the clay lithium ore is 0.56%, and the main minerals are lithium chlorite (41.84%), illite (13.52%), dikaite (5.63%), pyrite (7.58%), quartz (8.74%), and calcite (16.21%). Lithium in the ore is mainly hosted in lithium chlorite, which is embedded with fine particle sizes and often presents as fine particle scale aggregates. It is often wrapped in minerals such as calcite, quartz, and pyrite as cements. A small number of lithium chlorite are often wrapped in calcite and gypsum in fine particle scale forms, with poor washability and close association with other minerals. Lithium chlorite in the ore is difficult to enrich through physical beneficiation methods. It is recommended to use calcination Leaching and other schemes to extract lithium from ores.
