Mining and Metallurgy (formerly known as Journal of Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, first published in 1992, ISSN 1005-7854, CN 11-3479/TD) is jointly sponsored by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and BGRIMM Technology Group. It is a renowned and classic journal in the mining and metallurgy industry. While focusing on scientific and technological papers and achievements of high academic level and application value in areas such as scientific research, production development, engineering design, resource evaluation, theoretical research, and operational management, the journal extensively incorporates scientific and academic papers from related professional fields both domestically and internationally. It introduces new processes, new technologies, new materials, and new equipment developed through research, disseminates scientific and technological information, strengthens technical cooperation and academic exchanges within the global mining and metallurgy community, and promotes the advancement of mining and metallurgy science and technology.
Aims and Scope
The aim (objective) of Mining and Metallurgy is to disseminate industry scientific and technological information, strengthen technical cooperation and academic exchanges within the global mining and metallurgy community, and promote the advancement of mining and metallurgy science and technology.
Mining and Metallurgy publishes content covering a wide range of fields including mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, materials, chemical engineering, environment, engineering design, mechanical equipment, automation instruments, energy conservation, environmental protection, resource evaluation, process mineralogy, analytical monitoring, and management science. It features columns such as Mine Geology, Mining and Safety, Mineral Processing and Process Mineralogy, Metallurgy and Materials, and Environmental Science and Technology. The journal highlights academic progress in areas such as green mine development, comprehensive resource utilization, artificial intelligence, and low-carbon metallurgy research, with a particular focus on hot topics like solid waste resource recovery and recycling, dual carbon goals, and digitalization and intelligence. It publishes 6 issues per year. Suggested research and application areas include, but are not limited to:
●Theoretical Research: Foundational theories, academic mechanisms, and theoretical explorations and academic progress in cutting-edge directions within the mining and metallurgy field.
●Process Research: Process optimization in mining, mineral processing, smelting, environmental protection, and technological research in material preparation and processing.
● New Materials: Research and development, performance studies, and application exploration of various nonferrous metal materials, including light, heavy, rare, and precious metals.
●Production Practice: Practical production technologies, engineering applications, and practical experience in mining, smelting, processing, and other areas within the mining and metallurgy industry.
● Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology: Technological applications of artificial intelligence in the mining and metallurgy industry, and research on the integrated practice of information technology.

The publisher of this journal is the Editorial Office of Mining and Metallurgy, BGRIMM Technology Group.
BGRIMM Technology Group (formerly Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, established in 1956) is currently under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. Its core businesses include engineering and technical services related to mineral resource development and utilization, advanced material technology and products, and the recycling of mineral resources and environmental protection. It is the largest comprehensive research and design institution in China, primarily focused on mining and metallurgy science and engineering technology. Headquartered in Beijing, it comprises 12 research institutes/centers, 1 engineering company, 16 wholly-owned and holding subsidiaries (including 3 listed companies), and a Southwest Branch. It hosts over ten national-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Mineral Processing Science and Technology and the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Optimal Manufacturing for Mining and Metallurgical Processes. It holds Class A qualifications for engineering consulting, engineering design, engineering supervision, and safety assessment, possesses qualifications for foreign contracted engineering projects and import/export rights, and exports products and technologies to over 50 countries and regions. It has the authority to grant master's degrees in five first-level disciplines/specialized fields: Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronic Information. It is a pilot unit approved by the Ministry of Education for joint doctoral training and hosts a Postdoctoral Science Research Workstation. It sponsors and publishes 8 scientific and technological journals covering the entire industry chain of mineral resource development and utilization, including mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, materials, automation, environmental protection, intelligent optimization, intelligent manufacturing, analysis and testing, and new materials.
The group possesses a professional journal publishing team, tasked with disseminating industry academic achievements and empowering technological innovation. It core-operates 7 Chinese-language scientific journals and 1 English-language scientific journal (collectively known as the "BGRIMM Journal Cluster"), constructing a multi-dimensional academic dissemination matrix covering the entire spectrum of the mining and metallurgy field. The journal cluster brings together top-tier technological expertise in the industry, forming a dual-wheel-driven authoritative academic support system comprising "a senior advisory team of over 30 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences + an editorial board of more than 400 renowned experts and scholars."
