| In this paper, the authors, after analyzing the nip angle concept now used in a jaw crusher design, have discovered that it is right only in a limited range and it does not really reflect the working conditions of a jaw crusher. To describe the single-toggle jaw crusher working character, "authors propose a new concept: working nip angle. It redresses the error in the design of single-toggle jaw crusher nip angle and rightly explains various factors affecting the jaw crusher operation. With the working nip angle concept, authors have designed a single-toggle jaw crusher with a high efficiency, low abrasive crushing chamber and a structure of the toggle set down, with very good test results. As compared with original jaw crushers, the throughput of this new one increases by 20~50% and its jaw plate has a twice longer service life. |
