Abstract:
In the course of preparation of barium ferrite powder for making flexible magnet using mill scale, the effect of Ca2+ addition on grain growth during the presintering and crystal orientation of magnetic powder in press has been studied. It was compared with the crystal orientation magnitude of two kinds of powder under the stress in the course of pressing or extruding, which were made from presintering materials with additive of 1.2% CaCO3 and no additive respectively. The ratio Mr/Ms was regarded as a parameter of measuring orientation magnitude of powder during sample preparation. The experimental results indicated that barium ferrite in presintering with additive of CaCO3 showed the tendency to grow plate-like crystal grain. The test data indicated that the value of Mr/Ms of magnetic strip using the powder made from the presintering material with 1.2% CaCO3 was around 0.71 to 0.77. The other one without additive was about 0.63 to 0.64. The best magnetic properties of strip showed as follows:
