Abstract:
Experiments were carried out on flotation of niobotantalite in order to test the effects of N2 compounds for a new series collectors. The collecting power of N2 compounds has been proved to increase and the selectivity to decrease with the chain length. N2-10 has higher selectivity and collecting power. It is possible to separate niobotantalite from albite, lepidolite and quartz by use of N2-10 as collector. Better results of selective separation of niobotantalite from gangue have been achieved with N2-12 or N2-14 as collector and starch as depressor. By means of Auger electron spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and infrared spectrum, the reaction mechanism of N2-12 with niobotantalite was investigated. It has been shown that the adsorption of N2-12 on the surface of niobotantalite is a chemical one.
