| The previous technological process of the red mud separation consists of thickener and vacuum filter. Because the particle size distribution of pulp is dramatically heterogeneous, large particles frequently precipitate in the trough of filter, resulting in difficult operation, decreasing of the output and increasing of the loss of soda. Moreover, the red mud cannot meet the quality demand for cement industry. By use of hydrocyclone for classification and thickening of red mud, the large particles are firstly classified from the underflow of hydrocyclone with water content less than 57%, and the grain size of the overflow become finer. Then the overflow of the hydrocyclone is fed to thickener, which now operates much better. Now the new technology is put into operation, showing satisfactory results with good economical returns. |
