| Abstract: |
| To solve the problem of low recovery rate of tungsten at Shizhu-yuan Concentrator, SEM-IPS was used to identify those hardly analysable minerals. Use of this advanced technique has led to the discovery of a kind of hemi-pseudomorphous scheelite formed by replacing wolframite with scheelite and to identification of its special properties which are as follows: its superficial elements are more complex than those of scheelite and wolframites, they are not stable and can change along with the change of grinding fineness; they are easy to be overground and those found in tailings are all smaller than five microns; in the present mineral processing, they are concentrated mainly in wolframite table tailings and scheelite scavenger tailings. Besides large quantities of <10 micron scheelite and wolframite free particles lost to tailings, the presence of hemi-pseudomorphous scheelite is the other major factor for the great loss of tungsten. |
