| This paper describes the Electro-Magnetic Induction Initiating System regarding the safety of electric blasting and measurement. This system is called MBS (Electro-Magnetic Induction Blasting System), which is based on Faraday Electro-Magnetic Induction Principle together with the frequency transmitting feature of the soft Mn-Zn ferrite as shown in Fig.1. Its initiating principle is that when a high frequency current from a special exploder is supplied to the bus wire, i.e., the primary coil of the ferrite core, a current which can fire a detonator is induced in the detonator legwires, i.e., the secondary coil of the ferrite. The paper describes a number of MBS types with various design and determines the most safe one according to their features and electric safety. Furthermore, it describes the development and application of special exploders and various advanced testing instruments. |
