Abstract:
      Whether the temperature distribution of the lini ng in Hall-Heroult cell is reasonable,is directly related to the operating performances of aluminium electrolyting production and the life of Hall-Heroult cells. After using semi-graphitized cathode carbon blocks,the lower resistivity a nd higher coeffi-cient of hea t conductivity for the carbon blocks have grcat i nfluence on the tem-perature distribution of electrolytic cells. The temperature distribution after using semi-graphiti zed cathode carbon blocks and improving the lini ng material,was calculated with fi nite difference method.The calculation results showed that,after using semi-graphitized cathode carbon blocks,the heat preservation at the ends of carbon blocks seems more important.It is the effective measure to put a layer of heat i nsulation plate of calcium silicate nearing the cell shell.
