| Abstract: |
| A medium-intensity belt type permanent high gradient magnetic separator was developed. The endless high gradient matrix belt circulates through the separating zone, thus providing continuous separation of magnetic minerals from non-magnetic minerals. The operating parameters are proposed based on testwork. The magnet system consists of Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets with magnetic energy product 255KJ/m3 and magnetic flux level 1.1T. A special magnetic circuit structure with magnetic cladding is adopted to provide an optimal magnet design and a simple equation is derived to calculate the magnetic intensity on the basis of permanent magnet circuit laws. The industrial test results show that the separating performance of the belt type permanent high gradient magnetic separator is similar to that of electromagnetic high gradient magnetic separators. |
