| Abstract: |
| Faced with increasingly strict demand of environment protection, the Soderberg cell with side pins, to be in use in Guizhou Aluminium Plant, must be retrofitted. The most available scheme is to retrofit the Soderberg cell into a prebaked anode cell. The economic and technical data of traditional 60 kA Soderberg cell are compared with those of retrofitted prebaked cell in this paper. The study results have shown that the retrofitting is feasible technologically and economically. No change is needed in the conducting bus and cathode parts except the anode parts. |
