Abstract:
Fiber reinforced aluminum alloy composites are manufactured by squeeze casting.Segregation at interface of the composites is studied. The results indicate that at the end of solidification of the composites, the change of the solute in the surplus liquid phase results in the change of matrix alloy because of the selective crystallization, and the segregation at interface is finally formed. There may be the dual effect of the segregation on structures and properties of the composites.
