| Abstract: |
| Bioleaching of valuable metals from low grade nickel ores including lean ores and tailings in Jinchuan,by using bacteria, typically containing thiobacillus ferrooxidans, was explored The leaching results show that bioleaching is an effective way for recovering valuable metals from lean ore and tailings in Jinchuan, and that bioleaching of tailings is easier than that of lean ores The leaching rates of tailings are as follows:Ni 87 84%,Cu84 05%,Co86 35% The leaching rates of lean ores are as follows:Ni88 78%,Cu47 68%,Co65 65% However,pH value is unstable and acid consumption is high in the process of bioleaching due to more alkali gangues in Jinchuan ores For this reason, the bacteria to be tolerant of high pH values were selected and cultured by the means of induced mutation The results of using cultured bacteria for bioleaching of lean ores and tailings show that the leaching rates are close to that of using thiobacillus ferrooxidans Mineral bioextraction technology has a good future in treating Jinchuan low grade ores |
