Abstract:
In the feasibility study on pure minerals, in order to eliminate the effects of oxide film formed on the floatability of the surface of sulfide minerals, minerals are normally cleaned before floatation. Ultrasonic cleaning is one of the most effective methods, which needs short time and is easy to operate. This study investigated the effect of the ultrasonic cleaning methods on three sulfide minerals-galena, sphalerite and pyrite of the Huize Lead-Zinc Ore No. 6 ore body. Comparative tests have been performed on the floatability of the minerals before and after ultrasonic cleaning, combined with floatability tests pure minerals. The surface characteristics of the minerals before and after being cleaned by ultrasonic were studied by XPS. The test results indicate that the floatability of sulfide minerals was greatly improved after ultrasonic cleaning.
