Abstract:
Considering the characteristics of ilmenite ore, the chemical pretreatment is employed to destroy the dense symbiont of iron ilmenite and titanium, which leads to transformation of ilmenite ore and dissociation of titanium from iron atthe crystal lattice level. High-quality iron concentrate and titanium concentrate with little iron are achieved through magnetic separation process. In this study, the residue of the ilmenite ore pretreated by KOH and CaO is processed by magnetic separation. The experiments results indicate that 59.18% iron concentrate with 5.61% of TiO2 and tailings containing only 17.98% TiO2 and 16.35% iron are obtained, so that the separation of titanium and iron is achieved.
