Abstract:
Through the analysis of processes of iron removal from low cobalt solution, a process of iron and manganese removal by oxidation of SO2/O2 (or air) mixture and neutralizing is proposed. The results show that it is possible to remove the iron, but difficult to remove manganese totally. Under the condition of 30℃, a SO2 1.5 vol% and air mixture feeding rate of 45.43 m3/ (h ? m3 liquor), reaction time of 2h and pH value around 3.5, the iron concentration of the residual liquid is less than 0.005g/L, which means a 99.7% removal of iron is achieved, however the removal ratio of manganese is only 37.5%. Then the residual liquid is further neutralized to pH 4.0-4.5, and the aluminium is reduced to 0.03g/L. Total precipitation rate of nickel and cobalt are 0.87% and 1.24%, respectively throughout the whole process.
