| Abstract: |
| Smelting high-carbon ferrochrome with high-sulfur chromite concentrate is studied by direct current electric arc furnace. It reveals some main factors affecting quality of ferrochrome: the sulfur content of ferrochrome is affected obviously by basicity of slag at a selected temperature. whatever the basicity of slag is on the high side or on the low side, The desulphurizing capacity will decrease, the best smelting basicity is 1.5 under the conditions of laboratory when the temperature is 1780℃. The higher smelting temperature, the higher chrome content of ferrochrome products and recovery rate. the optimum temperature ranges from 1750℃ to 1800℃. The optimum coke addition amount ranges covers from 12% to 15% at 1780℃. The reduction and recovery rate of ferrochrome products will be blow 90% if the coke addition amount is blow 12%, or the sulfur content of ferrochrome will exceed 0.06% if it overtops 15%. Under the optimum operating condition, the high-carbon ferrochrome production that is get with the grade of Cr is 61.78%, S is 0.040%, and P is 0.065%. |
