| Abstract: |
| Processes of dealing with vanadium titanium magnetite iron ore in three different enterprises have been expounded and the three enterprises include The New Zealand Steel, Highveld Steel Vanadium Corp Ltd in South Africa and Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation in China. The New Zealand Steel and Highveld corporation adopt rotary kiln direct reduction EAF smelting DRI extracting vanadium from vanadium bearing hot metal process, however, this process just recover the Fe and V in the iron ore but the Ti enters into the slag of EAF which is difficult to be extracted because of the low grade of the TiO2. Panzhihua Iron and Steel Corporation applies the rotary hearth furnace (RHF) direct reduction EAF deep reduction vanadium extraction process and there is no other materials except DRI and reductant feel into the EAF, so the TiO2 content in the slag reaches 45% which is higher than that of the other corporations and the Ti element could be extracted by the traditional sulfuric acid method. The process provided by Panzhihua steel can recover the Fe, V and Ti in the vanadium titanium magnetite and opens up a new way for the ore utilization. |
