Abstract:
A new process of oxidative precipitation of Fe(II), Mn(II) from cobalt leach solutions using SO2-air mixture was proposed and effects of various parameters were investigated. Results showed that under optimum conditions as: oxidation temperature of 30℃, PH of 3.5, SO2/air ratio of 2%, iron can be totally oxidized and precipitated from cobalt solution within 1h, while the rate of manganese oxidation is relatively slow, demananization rate is only 61.7% after 6h of oxidation. Coarse product of cobalt carbonate with Co>42% can be obtained from deferrized solution with sodium carbonate as neutralization agent. Product can be sold or used as raw material for further purification.
