Abstract:
Metallurgical processes for scandium recovery from various resources both at domestic and overseas are reviewed. The processes for scandium recovery from complex lower grade ore such as thorveitite, rare earths, uranium and nickel ores and from residues and smelting slag such as red mud, titanium dust, tungsten slag and alloy scraps were introduced. The effects and problems of the processes are analyzed and evaluated. The methods combined scandium recovery as by-product with main resource processing technology were proposed, which include commonly used technique with ore pre-treatment, leaching, solvent extraction, precipitation and calcination. New technologies for scandium recovery such as efficient extraction solvent and selective leaching solvent extraction are possible kev to break through the scandium recovery process viably.
