Abstract:
A cassiterite ore from Hunan province contains 0.92% Sn and 0.454% Cu and the primary Sn-bearing mineral in the ore is cassiterite, which is closely associated with all gangues; moreover, parts of the cassiterites are ultrafinely disseminated in iron minerals and gangues. A “flotation-magnetic separation-gravity concentration” flowsheet is proposed to treat this refractory cassiterite sulphide ore. It was found that this flowsheet achieves a cassiterite concentrate assaying 50.03% Sn with 55.69% recovery and a copper concentrate assaying 16.80% Cu with 78.32% recovery, respectively, and thus provides an effective method for the effective utilization of such ores.
