Abstract:
The leaching behavior of battery grade lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) was studied in HCl-N2H2.H2O aqueous solutions. The experimental results show that the optimal leaching technique is determined as follows: the HCl concentration of 0.9 mol/L, the N2H2.H2O to LiCoO2 ratio (g/g)of 6.25:10, the leaching temperature of 70℃ and the leaching time of 30min. Based on the leaching of pure LiCoO2, the HCl-N2H2.H2O leaching system is further applied in the treatment of spent Li-ion battery and the leaching rate of cobalt and lithium can be achieved at 95% and 99%,respectively. The leaching technique of spent Li-ion battery is further proved to be effective and stable.
