Abstract:
The extraction of titanium from the rich-titanium product low-intensity magnetic separation, sulfation roasting and water leaching, was investigated by dilute sulfuric acid leaching. The effects of sulfuric acid concentration, reaction temperature, the ratio of sulfuric acid to slag and holding time on the extraction rate of titanium were discussed. The chemical and phase compositions of samples were characterized by XRF and XRD. The results showed that the rich-titanium product contained over 35% of TiO2 which mainly exists in form of amorphous hydrated titanium oxide and perovskite. The optimum conditions of titanium extract from rich-titanium product were as follows: the concentration of sulfuric acid 60%,the mass ratio of sulfuric acid to slag (1.25~1.5) : 1, temperature 160℃,and holding time 2.5h. Under such conditions the extraction rate of titanium was over 90%and the purity was high. In the sulfuric acid leaching process, the amorphous hydrated titanium oxide in the rich-titanium product was leached first, and then the perovskite, and finally the part of diopside was dissolved. The characteristics of the process was a low concentration with acid, acid hydrolysis short time and high rate of TiO2 leaching. It is very significant for reusing Ti-bearing blast furnace slag.
