Abstract:
Laboratory studies on the treatment of high-arsenic wastewater from a gold smelter were performed with sulfide precipitation and neutralization precipitation process, respectively. Main influence factors of reagent dosage and acidity, etc. were investigated. Results showed that above 99.9% of arsenic can be removed with one stage treatment of sulfide precipitation or neutralization precipitation process, and after second stage treatment of iron salt sedimentation, arsenic concentration in the wastewater can be reduced below 0.5mg/l. Comparative analysis of two processes on the factors including treatment effects, costs, residue output and operation environment, etc. indicated that neutralization precipitation process assumes better economic and environmental benefits for industrial application.
