Abstract:
The characteristic of scandium in Ramu laterite had been detailed. Its distribution in the hydrometallurgical process for practical production, includes the leach in high pressure acid leaching (HPAL) and cycling leaching as well as the enrichment in the iron and aluminum removal of neutralization process were investigated. The control factors of operation conditions, include the pH value, the adding speed of limestone slurry and the strength of agitation in such process in the separation and enrichment of scandium were examined through experiments. The scandium with the content of 1300g/t were separated and enriched in second stage Fe/Al removal residue under optimum conditions. The improvement measurements for further enrichment of scandium were put forward. It’s very necessary to recover scandium in the separated system in hydrometallurgy process for the extraction of nickel and cobalt as far as the second stage Fe/Al removal residue is concerned, as the enrichment in this coarse scandium of intermediate is greatly improved.
