Abstract:
The sources and trends were analyzed about iron impurities in MgO-Al2O3 slag-based vanadium-aluminium alloys that based on the production system of electrothermic vanadium-aluminium alloys. The results show that Fe impurities are mainly introduced by reactor refractories (55.38%), while 87.65% of Fe in the system enters into vanadium-aluminium alloy, which has a strong ability to bind to vanadium. The analysis of Fe is not uniform in the alloy, the content of Fe is high in the lower epidermis and side wall of the alloy, and the iron exists in the form of elementary substance in the alloy. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the surface of alloy ingot, and reduce the amount of Fe entering vanadium-aluminium alloy by reducing Fe in refractory and controlling reaction temperature and reaction time, which provides technical support and research direction for the production of aerospace grade vanadium-aluminium alloy.
