| Abstract: |
| Because of its big neutron absorption cross section and hard fission,thorium is considered as one of the important nuclear fuels. It is transformed into fissile U233 after being bombarded by neutrons. Due to the small toxicity of nuclear waste, low nuclear diffusion, abundant reserves and greater assurance of nuclear fuel supply, the application prospects in nuclear energy utilization are huge in the future. In this paper, the extraction technology of thorium is reviewed , and the preparation methods of the thorium metal, including molten salt electrolysis, metal thermal reduction, iodization and electromigration, are also summarized. |
