Abstract:
Low valent titanium chloride composite electrolyte was prepared by disproportionation reaction using titanium tetrachloride and titanium sponge as raw materials. The effects of titanium tetrachloride dropping speed, reaction temperature and holding time on the preparation of low valent titanium ions composite electrolyte were studied. The optimized preparation process was obtained. Under the optimized process conditions, the composite electrolyte with titanium ion concentration of 11.25% was obtained. Dendritic titanium metal was obtained by molten salt electrorefining using low valence titanium chloride composite electrolyte and titanium sponge. The effect of titanium ion concentration on the morphology and oxygen content of purified titanium products was studied. The optimal concentration of titanium ion was 5%. Under this condition, the product with oxygen content of 58ppm was obtained. The results show that the purity of the prepared titanium ingot after electron beam melting using dendritic titanium metal can meet the requirements of 5N titanium standard.
