Abstract:
Technological mineralogy and mineral processing experiment were studied a complex refractory sandstone type high Ca-Mg copper-cobalt ore in from Congo (Kinshasa). The findings show that the valuable elements in the ore were mainly Cu and Co, with contents of 3.01% and 0.15%; The impurity elements were CaO and MgO, with contents of 11.22% and 10.26%. Cu mainly exists in the form of copper sulfide such as chalcocite and bornite; Co mainly exists in the form of cobalt oxide such as cobalt-bearing dolomite and cobalt-shattuckite. Some chalcocite is oxidized, and a small amount of malachite and zigueline are generated at its edge. Cobalt oxide is connected with malachite, and the two are closely related. Therefore, the technological process of "priority flotation of copper sulfide and then mixed flotation of oxide copper-cobalt ore and inhibition of flotation of Ca-Mg ore by sodium hexametaphosphate. Finally, a total of 2 concentrate products were obtained. Copper sulfide concentrate (copper grade 34.08%) and low Ca-Mg oxide copper-cobalt concentrate (copper/cobalt grade 19.47% and 1.29%, respectively), which realized the comprehensive recovery of valuable elements Cu and Co. Keywords: high Ca-Mg copper-cobalt ore; technological mineralogy; flotation; sodium hexametaphosphate
