| Abstract: |
| This paper analyzes the global wollastonite supply-demand structure and China's import-export situation from 2020 to 2024. In terms of supply structure, global wollastonite supply primarily originates from China, Finland, India, Mexico, and the United States. In 2024, China's wollastonite production reached 800 000 t, maintaining an absolutely dominant position in the global supply chain. In recent years, countries including Mexico and Spain have demonstrated relatively significant production growth. Regarding product value addition, Chinese wollastonite products are primarily concentrated in the mid-to low-end market segments, while countries such as Finland, Germany, South Korea, and the United States mainly produce high-end products. From the perspective of consumer markets, the Asia-Pacific region, which includes China and India, represents the largest market. Demand mainly derives from traditional industries including ceramics, plastics, and construction. In comparison, North American and European markets focus more on high-end sectors such as paints, coatings, plastics, and rubber. Between 2020 and 2024, the compound annual growth rate of China's total wollastonite exports was 7.46%, indicating a deepening dependence on Chinese products among various countries. Simultaneously, the compound annual growth rate of the import price reached 9.05%. This demonstrates that although China remains dependent on imports of high-value-added products, market requirements for product quality have significantly improved. According to China's wollastonite import data, it can be inferred that China has shifted part of its high-end import demand from the United States and Germany to countries including South Korea and Finland. Regarding future development, the report recommends strengthening policy guidance and improving the mineral resource security system, promoting industry-academia-research collaboration, facilitating enterprise consolidation, and supporting the establishment of high-end product standards. It also advises guiding upstream and downstream synergistic innovation, increasing research and development investment, prioritizing breakthroughs in deep-processing technologies such as surface modification and ultra-fine grinding, moving away from low-price competition, targeting international high-end market demand, developing high-value-added products, and achieving a transition from scale expansion to quality enhancement. |
